Rare Monk
Rare Monk is a collective of five Portland musicians that have been playing in and around Eugene and Portland, Oregon for the past two years. With a sound that has continued to evolve since the band’s formation, their repertoire combines elements of pop, rock, psych, jazz, and funk. In January of 2011, Rare Monk completed a West Coast tour throughout California and Nevada. Their music has been featured on the X-Games, Dew Tour, and most recently a DC Shoes commercial. They have also performed a number of festivals, including the 2009 Eugene Celebration, 2010 and 2011 Willamette Music Fest, and the 2010 and 2011 Whiteaker Block Party. The group just finished their second EP, “Astral Travel Battles”, and went back out on tour this August, traveling through 12 states in support of its release.
